if the two phe and tyr are in between the hydrophilic then the color that would show up is white but if the phe and tyr are in the phobic blob then they work out and make it purple.

Tyr+phe=purple

Original Amino Acid Sequence

  • Phe7Arg6 - Red

  • Arg3Phe7Arg3 - Red

Changing The Sequence
  • Keep the color the same - By changing the 10th amino acid to a more hydrophobic amino acid.

  • Change the color to white - By having the same amount of hydrophobic and hydrophilic amino acids.

  • Change to a different color - By changing all the Phe to Tyr or Trp.

  • Change to “purple” - By adding Tyr in the middle of a Phe sequence.

The three images with an equal amount of lysine and leucine are red (the original color). The three images with unequal amounts of lysine and leucine are white.

Blue Protein.

Change the first amino acid, Met to Trp, and the protein will change from blue to green.

To keep the color the same, change the Gln to Asn, Ser to Thr, Leu to Ile (either Leu), Asn to Gln. If you change Arg to Lys or Arg to His, the color will stay the same, but the shape will change.

To change the blue protein to a white protein, change Cys to Gly.
